Caustic Calcined Magnesite (CCM) and Light Burned Magnesia (LBM) are two magnesium oxide (MgO) products that have been processed by different calcination processes. Although they are similar in composition, they have significant differences in production process, physical properties and application fields.
1. Calcination temperature and process
The calcination temperature range of Light Burned Magnesia may be lower (such as 750–900°C), and it has a higher specific surface area and porosity.
2. Physical and chemical properties
Light Burned Magnesia is highly active, with a small and loose crystal structure. The specific surface area is usually 100–200 m²/g, depending on the calcination parameters.
