Magnesia-Alumina Spinel (MAS) in China is a synthetic refractory material formed by combining magnesium oxide (MgO) and aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) under high temperatures. It is known for its excellent thermal stability, corrosion resistance, and structural integrity at extreme temperatures, making it ideal for demanding industrial applications.
Spinel is typically produced through one of two methods:
Sintered Spinel – made by calcining a blend of magnesia and alumina at temperatures above 1700°C.
Fused Spinel – created by melting MgO and Al₂O₃ in an electric arc furnace, then cooling and crushing the material into desired sizes.
Both types are widely used, with sintered spinel offering cost-efficiency and fused spinel providing higher purity and density.
